Ad Placement

A defined slot within a newsletter where an ad is displayed to subscribers.

An ad placement (also called an ad unit or ad slot) is a specific location within a newsletter template where advertisements are displayed. Common newsletter ad placements include: header banner (above editorial content, highest visibility), mid-article placement (between content sections, high engagement), footer placement (below content, lowest visibility but often highest click-through for action-oriented ads), and native ad slots (in-flow with editorial content). Each placement has its own format specifications (size, format), floor CPM, brand safety rules, and targeting settings. In MailAdx's Publisher Portal, publishers create named placements with individual settings. Each placement gets a unique ad tag that embeds in the corresponding position in the ESP template.
