CTR (Click-Through Rate)

The percentage of ad impressions that result in a click.

CTR (click-through rate) is the percentage of ad impressions that result in a subscriber clicking the ad. CTR = (Clicks ÷ Impressions) × 100. In newsletter advertising, CTR is significantly higher than in web display advertising. Where display banner CTR averages 0.05%, newsletter ad CTR typically ranges from 0.5% to 3%+, and well-placed native ads in high-intent newsletters can achieve 3–7% CTR. CTR is influenced by ad format (native ads outperform banners), ad relevance (topic-matched ads perform better), placement position (above-the-fold vs. footer), and audience quality. Publishers use CTR data to evaluate ad format performance and optimize placement; advertisers use it to measure creative effectiveness.
