GDPR Compliance in Newsletter Advertising

How newsletter ad serving can satisfy EU General Data Protection Regulation requirements.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the EU's primary data privacy law, which applies to any processing of personal data of EU residents. In newsletter advertising, GDPR considerations include: what data is collected about subscribers, whether consent is required for targeted advertising, and how long data is retained. MailAdx's architecture is designed to be GDPR-compliant without requiring additional consent flows: it uses SHA-256 email hashes (not plaintext emails), performs contextual targeting based on newsletter topic (not cross-site behavioral profiling), stores no cookies, and runs no JavaScript in the inbox. The minimum data principle means only what's needed for ad serving (hash, coarse geo, device class) is processed. Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) are available for EU business customers.
