Create a native creative
Write the text, add the image and logo, and see how your ad will look at every native size.
Updated 2026-11-02
A native ad takes on the look of the newsletter it appears in. You supply the text and images. MailAdx draws them into one image when the reader opens the email, in that publisher's colours and fonts and at the size of its slot.
Steps
- Open Creatives and select New Creative.
- Enter a Creative Name and choose the Advertiser.
- Set Creative Type to Native.
- Enter the Click-Through URL.
- Fill in the native fields below.
- Check the Preview. It shows the ad at every native size and updates as you type.
- Select Create Creative.
Native fields
| Field | Limit |
|---|---|
| Headline | Up to 60 characters |
| Body Copy | Up to 120 characters |
| Brand Name | Up to 30 characters, shown in the ad's footer |
| CTA Button | Pick from the list, or choose Custom… for up to 20 characters |
Images
Main image
- 1200×628 px is recommended. That's the size of a social sharing image, and it fits every native size.
- At least 600×314 px.
- Landscape, between 1:1 and 3:1.
- JPG, PNG or GIF.
Brand logo (optional)
- Square is best, at least 64×64 px. 256×256 px is recommended.
- No narrower than 1:2 and no wider than 2:1.
- A PNG with a transparent background works best.
Select Upload next to a field, up to 5 MB, or paste a link to an image, up to 8 MB. MailAdx checks each image when you save and keeps its own copy, so your ad doesn't depend on your server.
Native sizes
A native creative has no size of its own. Each publisher's slot sets the size.
| Size | Pixels | Layout |
|---|---|---|
| Card | 600×480 | Full-width image on top, then text, logo and button |
| Medium Rectangle | 300×250 | Image, headline, logo and button |
| Split | 600×200 | Square image on the left, text on the right |
| Text only | 600×160 | Text only, no image |
The ad never changes size. Text that doesn't fit is cut with "…", so put the point of your message first. The headline runs to two lines at most.
The Main image is needed for every size except Text only. Without one, the ad can run only in Text only slots.
Run it
Choose the creative on a line item and set the line item's Ad Format to Native. It runs only in native slots. See Create a line item.
What happens next
The creative goes to review, against what ads are allowed. Editing the text or images later sends it back to review.
Every native ad carries a sponsored label. The Advertising Policy doesn't allow you to hide or obscure it.
For agencies
Choose the client under Advertiser.
For publishers
Owner shows Your direct-sold inventory, and the creative goes through the same review.
If something goes wrong
- "Main image is … px — it must be at least 600×314". Use a bigger image.
- "Main image is … px … use a landscape image between 1:1 and 3:1". Crop it. 1200×628 fits every size.
- "Logo is … px — it must be at least 64×64". Use a bigger logo.
- "Logo is … px — use a roughly square logo". Crop it closer to square.
- "Main image is not a JPG, PNG or GIF image we can read". Save it again in one of those formats. WebP doesn't work here.
- "Main image could not be downloaded". The link must be public and start with https://. Or use Upload.
- "Main image is larger than 8 MB". Make the file smaller.
- "Headline is … characters — the limit is 60". The same limits apply to every text field. Shorten it.
- The Create Creative button is greyed out. It needs a name, a click-through URL, a headline, body copy, a brand name and a button.
- The line item delivers nothing. Check that Ad Format is Native.
