Connect your own DSP
Add a demand-side platform you have a deal with, choose who it pays and let it bid on your banner slots.
Updated 2026-11-02
A DSP (demand-side platform) is a system that buys ads for advertisers. If you have a deal with one, connect it here. Its bids fill your banner slots when nothing direct does.
Before you start
- Your account must be active, and you need the Owner, Admin or Manager permission.
- Ask your DSP for its OpenRTB bid endpoint. It must use https.
- You need at least one Banner ad unit. DSPs can't bid on other formats.
- You can connect up to 10 DSPs.
Steps
- Open My DSPs and select Connect a DSP.
- Enter a Name, and the OpenRTB bid endpoint. DSP vendor is optional and for your own reference.
- Add an Auth header if your DSP needs one, written as
Name: value. It is never shown again after saving. - Choose Who does this DSP pay?
- It pays me directly. You invoice the DSP yourself, and MailAdx never handles that money. Enter Your account ID at this DSP.
- It pays MailAdx. This needs a contract between MailAdx and the DSP, which is confirmed when it is approved. Your share is paid after the DSP pays MailAdx.
- Under Ad units, tick the slots it may bid on. None ticked means all your banner ad units.
- Set Timeout (ms), from 10 to 1,000, and Requests per second, up to 100,000. 0 means no limit.
- Select Submit for approval.
- Once it is approved, open Ad Units and select the pencil on each slot.
- Under Third-party DSPs (RTB), tick Let DSPs bid on this ad unit, set an RTB floor CPM ($) and select Save RTB settings.
Set an RTB floor. With no floor at all, a lone bid can clear at almost nothing. If you leave it blank, the slot's Floor CPM is used.
What happens next
The DSP shows PENDING_APPROVAL until MailAdx reviews it. It receives bid requests only once it is approved and only on ad units with the switch on. The switch is off by default.
The table shows who the DSP pays, the MailAdx fee and its status, and Last 30 days shows what it earned.
- If it pays you directly, MailAdx charges your wallet a flat fee per 1,000 impressions the DSP wins. The default is $0.40, and the table shows your rate. The DSP stops bidding if your wallet runs out.
- If it pays MailAdx, you also need a current listing under Authorized Sellers. The table shows the exchange fee.
Use the row buttons to edit, pause, resume or remove a DSP. Removing it stops bid requests and keeps its past records.
If something goes wrong
- "This change sends the DSP back to MailAdx for approval." Changing the endpoint, the auth header or who pays stops bidding until it is approved again.
- "The bid endpoint must use https" or "must be a public host". Use the public https address from your DSP.
- "Enter your account ID at this DSP". This is required when the DSP pays you directly.
- "Your account must be active to connect a DSP". Wait for your account to be approved.
- The status is PAUSED with a reason. A DSP that stops answering can be paused automatically. Fix it with your DSP, then resume it.
- The status is REJECTED. Read the reason under the status, change the DSP and save it to send it back for review.
- No bids are arriving. Check that the ad unit's switch is on, and that the DSP is ACTIVE.
