Choose which newsletters a line item runs in
Run a line item on named publishers, block others, and use the live check to see where it can deliver.

By default a line item can run in any eligible newsletter. You can limit it to the ones you choose, or keep it out of certain ones.
Pick newsletters for a line item
- Open a line item and make sure an Order is chosen. The Publishers section appears below Target Languages.
- Select Only these publishers.
- Search by name or website and choose from the list. You can add up to 200.
- To reuse a list, choose from Copy publishers from another line item in this order.
- Read the check under the list, then save.
You can also start from the Publisher Directory by ticking newsletters and selecting Create line item for N publishers.
To go back to the whole network, select All eligible publishers.
Keep newsletters out of a campaign
To rule a newsletter out of every line item in a campaign, add it to the order's block list. See Create an order. A block always beats a line item's list.
Read the targeting check
The form checks your line item as you edit it. Nothing is saved until you save.
- "Can deliver on 3 of 4 selected publishers" (example) appears with Only these publishers.
- "Can reach 18 of 40 active publishers" (example) appears with All eligible publishers.
Below that, each newsletter that can't take the line item is listed with the reason, and a warning marks any that might under-deliver. Each newsletter you picked gets a dot: green for fine, amber for a warning, red for blocked. Hover over it to read why.
Back in the list, a line item aimed at named publishers shows a chip with the same colours. Grey means the check isn't available right now.
The check covers whether each newsletter can take your line item at all. It doesn't cover readers' location, mailbox, operating system, language or audience, or your goal, budgets, pacing and frequency cap.
Few weekly newsletters? Use ASAP pacing
With three newsletters or fewer, a goal and a flight longer than a day, you may see a warning that even pacing will hold the line item back. A weekly newsletter sends one day in seven, so a daily limit wastes the other six days.
Select Use ASAP pacing in the warning to switch. See Set budgets, pacing and flight dates.
If something goes wrong
- "Couldn't check delivery right now — you can still save." The check is unavailable for the moment. Your line item saves as normal.
- A newsletter can't be selected. It takes only its own direct-sold campaigns.
- A chip says "Removed publisher". That newsletter is no longer in the directory. Remove the chip. It stays until you do.
- "Blocked on this campaign, so it can't be targeted". Take it off the order's block list first, or pick another newsletter.
- "These publishers can't serve this campaign". The publisher isn't active.
- "A line item can target at most 200 publishers". Remove some, or use All eligible publishers with a block list.
- No Publishers section. Choose an order first. Direct-sold campaigns don't have this section.
