How campaigns are organised
A campaign has three layers. The order holds it together, line items decide where and how it runs, and creatives are the ads people see.

Every campaign on MailAdx has three layers. You set them up in this order: order, creative, line item.
The three layers
| Layer | Where | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| Order | Orders | Who the campaign is for, its status, the answer on political ads, and a block list for the whole campaign. The app sometimes calls an order a campaign. |
| Creative | Creatives | The ad itself: the image or text, the click-through URL and the category. |
| Line item | Line Items | The creative to run, the price, flight dates, goal, daily budget, pacing, targeting and frequency cap. |
An order can have many line items. Each line item runs one creative, and one creative can run on several line items. To run two ads side by side, make two line items.
What has to be active
An ad can only show when all of these are true:
- The order's status is Active.
- The line item's status is Active.
- The line item has a creative, and that creative is Approved.
- Today is inside the line item's dates.
There is more on this in Launch a campaign.
How you pay
You pay per impression, at the line item's CPM (the price per 1,000 impressions). An impression is counted when a reader opens the email and the ad is shown. See Set budgets, pacing and flight dates. If your ad network bills you, it sets what you pay.
For agencies
Each order belongs to one client. You pick the client when you create the order, and it can't be changed later. See Add and manage your client advertisers.
For publishers
The same pages run your own direct-sold campaigns. Your orders are direct-sold, and they serve only on your own newsletter.
