Launch a campaign

You can build a whole campaign in draft. Going live takes five things, and nothing goes out until all of them are done.

Before you start

• You have an order, a creative and a line item.

Steps

1. Check your account is approved. While it's waiting for approval you can build, but you can't add credits or activate a campaign.
2. Add credits. Add money to your wallet. Any positive balance lets campaigns run.
3. Get the creative approved. Check that Approval on Creatives says Approved. See Get a creative approved.
4. Activate the order. On Orders, select the play button. Its status changes to Active.
5. Activate the line item. On Line Items, select the play button.

Both the order and the line item must be Active. A line item set to Active inside a Draft order doesn't serve.

Before you activate, open the line item and read the check under Publishers. It tells you if anything will stop delivery. See Choose which newsletters a line item runs in.

For agencies

Each client has its own wallet. See Fund a client's wallet.

What happens next

The change reaches ad serving shortly afterwards. The ad can then show when a reader opens an email on a newsletter you can reach, from your Start Date onward.

Newsletters send on their own schedule, so impressions come in bursts. A weekly newsletter may show nothing for days.

Watch progress in the Pacing column on Line Items, and in Reports. You'll get an alert if an active line item has had no impressions a day after its start date.

If something goes wrong

• "Almost there" appears when you select play. Your account is still waiting for approval. Select Keep setting up and carry on in draft.
• "Your account is pending admin approval". The same applies on the Orders page.
• "Almost there" appears when you select Add Credits. Top-ups also unlock on approval.
• It's live but nothing has been delivered. See Why a line item isn't delivering.
