Verify your brand's domain
Prove you own the domain you advertise under, with a DNS record or a small file on your site.
Updated 2026-11-02
Verifying a domain proves you control the brand you advertise under. It's optional for ordinary campaigns.
Publishers see your verified domain on deals, and their block lists match it. A reviewer can also see whether your ads link to it. Political sponsors need a verified domain before they can be approved.
Before you start
- You can change DNS records for the domain, or add a file to its website.
Steps
- Open Verified Domains.
- Under Add a domain, enter your domain, such as
brand.com, and select Add. Subdomains are covered, so add the main domain. - Do one of these:
- Option 1: add a TXT record at your DNS provider, using the record name and Copy the TXT value shown on the page.
- Option 2: put a plain-text file at the web address shown on the page, containing the token from Copy the token.
- Select Verify.
DNS changes can take a few minutes to an hour to show. If the check doesn't pass, wait and select Verify again.
For agencies
Choose the client under Advertiser first. Each client verifies its own domains.
What happens next
The status changes to Verified. Your first verified domain becomes your primary one. If you have more than one, select Make primary on the one you want shown.
Keep the record or file in place. We check it every day. One failed check changes nothing, so a brief outage won't hurt you. If it fails again about a day later, the domain goes back to Not found and you get an alert titled "Domain check failed". Put the record or file back and select Verify.
You can add up to 10 domains for each advertiser.
Your listing in buyers.json
If this section shows on the page, advertisers with a verified domain are listed in the public buyer list. Choose how you appear:
- Automatic — businesses named, individuals confidential
- Show my legal name and domain
- Keep me confidential
If something goes wrong
- "Not found". The last check didn't find your record or file. The page shows what went wrong under Last check.
- "Checked less than a minute ago — try again in a minute." You can run one check a minute.
- "is a shared platform — verify a domain you own". Sites such as substack.com or beehiiv.com can't be verified. Use your own domain.
- "Enter your brand's domain, e.g. brand.com". Enter just the domain, with no path.
- "At most 10 domains per advertiser". Remove one you no longer need.
- "Verify the domain first". Only a verified domain can be primary.
- "Domain verification isn't switched on yet." It isn't available on your account. Contact support@mailadx.com.
