What happens when your wallet runs low or empty

The warnings you get below $10, what stops at zero, who gets the emails, and how ads start again.

Updated 2026-11-02

Ads keep serving until a balance reaches zero. You get warnings before that, so you can top up in time.

Some accounts are billed by their ad network instead of a prepaid wallet. If Wallet is not in your menu, none of this applies to you. Your ad network handles your billing.

Below $10

The low-balance level is $10 by default. Under it:

  • The balance card on the Wallet page turns amber and says "Balance below $10 — your ads may pause soon".
  • A Wallet balance low alert appears in the bell and the Alert Center.
  • We email the account owner once each time the balance drops below that level.

Nothing stops at this point.

At $0

For advertisers

Your campaigns stop serving. The Wallet page says "No credits — add funds to resume ad delivery", and a Wallet empty alert appears. It is marked Urgent while you have campaigns running.

For publishers

Only your own Direct-Sold campaigns stop. Network demand keeps serving on your inventory, and you keep earning from it. You hear about a low or empty wallet only while a Direct-Sold campaign is running.

A running free impression grant keeps Direct-Sold campaigns serving on an empty wallet.

For agencies

You hold no balance, so this happens per client. When a client's wallet is empty, that client's campaigns stop. The alert carries the client's name in brackets. Fund the client to start them again.

Starting again

Add credits. Serving restarts by itself once the account has a balance again. You don't need to change your line items.

Emails you may get

  • Low balance. One email to the account owner each time the balance drops below the low-balance level.
  • Billing summary. A summary of the low or empty wallets on your account, sent to your team. While a balance stays low we send it three times at most: on the first day, after 3 days and after 7 days.
  • Payment received. A confirmation after each top-up.

If something goes wrong

  • Your wallet has money but ads are not serving. The wallet may not be the cause. Check the line item's dates, budget, targeting and creative approval, then open the Alert Center.
  • You got no email. Check your spam folder, and check that your email address is verified.
